What to know
Tirupur's knitters are fed by a dense belt of spinning mills in and around the city and in neighbouring Coimbatore. Many of the largest exporters began as spinners and integrated forward into knitting, processing and garments, which is why the yarn trade and the garment trade are so closely tied here.
