Tirupur is India's knitwear capital. Garment exports stood at about ₹42,544 crore in 2025-26, and the cluster supplies the large majority of the country's cotton knitwear exports. What makes it work is proximity: spinning, knitting, dyeing, printing and stitching all sit within a short radius, so a garment can move from yarn to carton without leaving the district.
